Peter Russo - Principal

Peter Russo - Principal Peter is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and New South Wales and the high Court of Australia. He has been practising in the area of criminal law for approximately 20 years.

He has been involved in many high profile cases, including representing Dr Mohamed Haneef in 2007 and 2008. He was also the solicitor who represented Khaled Daoed, the person charged with offences resulting out of the ill fated SIEVX vessel's journal to Australia. He has a consistent track record of representing his client fearlessly. Peter is committed to providing his clients with quality representation. He listens closely to clients concerns and works with them to provide them the best possible outcome.

He has a strong commitment to access to justice issues and is a member of the Queensland Law Society Criminal Law Section. He graduated with his Master of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology in 2008. He was named the Australian Newspaper's Australian of the Year in 2007. He has delivered lectures throughout Australia and overseas on matters related to his work.

He has also been a member of The Executive Connection ( TEC ) for 6 years now and was a delegate at their Washington Conference in 2006.

He is a keen fisherman but his commitment to his work and family has seriously curtailed that activity in recent times. On a recent trip to Straddie, standing at Point Lookout, looking out to sea, has rekindled the fisherman instinct in Peter. Watch this space for his adventures in the law and fishing….

Megan Mahon - Principal

Megan Mahon - Principal Megan Mahon is the current Woman Lawyer of the Year, as awarded by the Women Lawyers Association of Qld, and a Past President of the Queensland Law Society who was, until recently, based in Toowoomba for the past 11 years, prior to returning to Brisbane.

With over 20 years experience in the law, Megan provides advice to all levels of business and corporate enterprise, commercial and property related matters and estate planning. Megan's vast experience in corporate and commercial areas is called upon regularly in the establishment and restructure of businesses and corporations, and also planning for succession of family businesses.

Megan is a proud member of the legal profession and remains active in various Law Society committees, as well as other business and community groups, including the Bond University Law Advisory Board and the Toowoomba Diocesan Catholic Education Board. Megan's directorships include the Queensland Law Foundation Pty Ltd and until recently was an Executive Director of the Law Council of Australia.

The most important aspect of Megan's life is her family life that she shares with her husband Gerard and their 2 children, Tim and Laura.

Kris Jahnke - Senior Associate - LL.B., Grad. Dip. Leg. Prac

Kris Jahnke LL.B., Grad. Dip. Leg. Prac - Solicitor Kris commenced working in Criminal Law as a Law Clerk in 2006 quickly obtaining a grasp of what is required to be a successful lawyer in this field.

Working on a number of high profile cases under some of Queensland's most experience lawyers, Kris has quickly developed a unique knowledge of the most appropriate way to properly defend clients charged with a range of offences.

Kris has had experience working with clients charged with Murder, Serious Drug Offences, Assaults, Serious Sex Offences including Child Sex Offences, Stealing, Fraud at Commonwealth and State Level and Traffic Offences. Kris has also had experience making Applications to the Magistrates court including Special Hardship Order Applications and Work Licence Applications.

Most notably, Kris worked with his Principal, Peter Russo, on the defence of Dr Mohamed Haneef. At this time, Kris gained invaluable experience dealing with Magistrate Court Chamber Applications and Federal Court Applications. Kris has also learnt important lessons in relation to dealing with the Media.

Kris is committed to ensuring clients know where they stand in relation to their legal defence by making himself available at all hours of the day. He has a strong belief that for lawyers to properly represent a client they must be easily accessible and willing to talk through any issues the client may have.

Kris has graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University. He is also admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

Amy Soong - Associate - L.L.B (Hons), L.L.M, BBus (Accy), GradDipLP (QUT)

Amy Soong - LLB (Hons), BBus (Accy), GradDipLP (QUT) - Solicitor Amy undertook work experience in the area of criminal defence during her university studies and has been with Russo Mahon Lawyers since her admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2008.

Amy has worked in a variety of cases including cases dealing with charges of fraud, stealing, robbery with violence, assault, stalking, drug related offences, offences of a sexual nature, traffic related offences, and breach proceedings. Amy represents clients in criminal law matters in both the State and Commonwealth jurisdiction and conducts matters regularly in the Magistrates Court and Children's Court. She also appears and instructs Counsel for matters before the District Court, Supreme Court, and Coroners Court.

Amy completed a Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Laws in 2007 from Queensland University of Technology graduating with Honours. She is a member of Golden Key International Honour Society and has completed postgraduate study in Master of Laws.

Amy speaks fluent Cantonese.

Amy has always been certain of her interest in criminal law and works strongly towards Russo Mahon Lawyers' commitment to justice and fairness.

Tracey Price - Solicitor - LLB, B.Jus (CritCrim)(Dist), Justice of the Peace (Qual), Registered Migration Agent MARN 0849207

Tracey Price - LLB, B.Jus (CritCrim)(Dist) - Solicitor Tracey Price is admitted as a Solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. Tracey is also a qualified Justice of the Peace and a Registered Migration Agent with MARA. Tracey holds membership with MIA, the Queensland Law Society and the Golden Key International Honour Society which recognizes her as one of the top 15% of Undergraduates.

Tracey has completed a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Justice (Distinction) with a Critical Criminology Major and completed her Articled Clerkship with a boutique law firm in Brisbane. Tracey is currently completing her Master of Laws at QUT.

Tracey has a vast background which includes Advertising and Marketing. Tracey has also spent a number of years working overseas in London with Chase Manhattan Bank. Tracey has returned to the UK, Ireland and South Africa over the past few years providing consultation to those wishing to migrate to Australia.

Tracey also has a passion to help those who are faced with the overwhelming criminal justice system. Tracey believes she is approachable and has a broad knowledge of both civil and criminal law and has achieved fantastic results for her clients.

Tracey has experience working with clients in many areas of law including civil litigation, personal injury, migration, debt recovery and criminal matters from regulatory offences, drink driving, bail applications, assault, serious drug offences, serious sex offences, manslaughter and murder. Emily O'Hagan - Solicitor - L.L.B (Hons), BPsycSc, GradDipLP (Griffith)

Emily graduated with Honours in a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Psychological Science from Griffith University in 2008.

She was admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2009.

Emily has studied International Criminal Law and Forensic Mental Health at Utrecht University in the Netherlands in 2007. She commenced working in criminal law following graduation and joined Russo Mahon Lawyers in 2009.

Emily has experience in a range of criminal matters including serious drug offences, assaults, robbery, sex offences, stalking, fraud, stealing and driving offences. She has represented clients in trials, sentences and bail applications in all jurisdictions, including the Magistrates Court, District and Supreme Courts, and Children's Court.

Imraan Esat - Solicitor - LL.B, BSci, Grad Dip Leg. Prac

Imraan Esat LL.B, BSci, Grad Dip Leg. Prac - Solicitor Having completed a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science (Environment) from Griffith University in Queensland, Imraan commenced working as a Law Clerk in 2009 at Russo Mahon Lawyers under the experienced Peter Russo.

Imraan has undertaken a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Queensland University of Technology and has been admitted as a Legal Practitioner in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

Imraan has an avid interest in criminal law and justice. He is client focussed, down to earth and easy to talk to.
